New Zealand 29-9 Australia - As it Happened

By Nick Powell

10:28
So there it is, New Zealand 2 from 2, 10 points from 10. An easy win against the other World Cup Finalists tonight and the scariest thing? They were miles away from their best. Thanks for reading, look out for my match report in the next couple of hours.

10:27
FULL TIME New Zealand 29-9 Australia

10:26
80+2 mins: Or will they? Penalty from the scrum, here come Australia! Agonisingly, it is knocked on again however, and New Zealand have got home.

10:25
80 mins: Australia's first decent chance of the game! Here goes Israel Folau after a clever inside pass from Cooper, Australia fling it wide. Penalty, taken quickly, here goes Phipps! Oh No! He knock on over the line and Australia won't get their consolation this week.

10:21
77 mins: It breaks down after a knock on wide. All Blacks make their last change as Antom Lienert-Brown makes way and Australia have the scrum in their own 22. They try and run it, and why not? The clearing upfield tactic hasn't worked. They are driving back to their line and this is chaotic! The ball goes loose in their dead ball area! Cooper clears it up however and a penalty helps them get the ball on half way. At last they can have a foray into New Zealand's 22

10:18
75 mins: Northern hemisphere like scrummaging as yet another goes to ground, finally it emerges at the third attempt, Read bursts upfield, finds Lienert-Brown, but the latter can't find another teammate. New Zealand regather though and they are attacking again

10:16
73 mins: Not good from Aaron Cruden, a poorly executed grubber is easily collected by Australia. They only clear as far as Beauden Barrett however, and New Zealand run it back upfield. Again and again. Australia just cannot keep the ball and cannot keep it out their half. Penalty for the All Blacks on the 22, they opt to have another scrum. It goes down first time and Poite has a word with the Aussie props.

10:12
70 mins: From the touch kick, Australian chasers are offside, scrum under the sticks for New Zealand. This will be tough to defend for Australia, New Zealand are flat and look very dangerous

10:09
68 mins: Stunning, beautiful, quite brilliant. New Zealand at their best as they burst forward. Coles dances down the wing, finds Read, who looks for Perenara who jinks inside before bursting outside. He is tackled out, but it was lovely hands. They really seem to be going up the gears now.

10:07
67 mins: New Zealand have surely wrapped up the bonus point now, if you don't already know, the system has changed. Rather than needing 4 tries, you need to finish 3 tries clear of your opponents to earn an offensive bonus point.

10:03
TRY CANE 63', CON BARRETT 64' New Zealand 29-9 Australia: Classic. Australia clear, New Zealand back at them. Brilliant from Ben Smith, who steps through and powers up to within a yard. Sam Cane does the rest. Barrett with a fine conversion and this could be a tough 20 minutes for Australia

10:02
61 mins: Maul on its way to the try line, heading for the sticks! But they pull it out! Why on earth have New Zealand done that? The decision isn't vindicated as well, as Savea is pushed into touch.

10:00
58 mins: Shanked wide from Beauden Barrett, not the best night off the tee for the New Zealand fly half, but Australia are not off the hook, the ball is cleared and Haylett-Petty is done for a deliberate knock on. All Black line out 22 metres out, here we go again...

09:59
57 mins: Another messy scrum, but Australia win it. They put some phases together before clearing upfield. All Blacks with another line out in the Australian half however, and there is some danger. A poor kick helps Australia kick further upfield, but Barrett jinks through and earns a penalty, which he will kick

09:55
54 mins: New Zealand kick through and Australia regather, but run it into touch about 30 metres out. Chance for number 4. The All Blacks win the lineout and kick through, and they've nicked the ball back! Unfortunately for them however, Australia choke them in the tackle and have a scrum in their own 22.

09:52
52 mins: New Zealand concede a penalty straight from the restart but Hodge misses the chance to cut the gap. Half an hour left here and New Zealand lead by 13, All Blacks scrum just inside their own half.

09:47
TRY SAVEA 47', CON BARRETT 48' New Zealand 22-9 Australia. From that lineout, Dagg burst up the blindside. It goes wide, lovely from Beauden Barrett who evades a few before going wide. The timing on his pass to Fekitoa is sublime and Fekitoa feeds Savea who has a lot to do as he powers past two defenders to finish in the corner. Barrett curls it in from the touchline and New Zealand have a nice cushion now

09:46
47 mins: Free kick Australia. They clear and New Zealand kick it straight back into the hands of Genia, who gets away from one, two, three! Here he goes, up to the 22! Chance for Australia but oh no, it's a penalty to New Zealand for holding on. Australia lost direction and momentum and New Zealand punish them as they always do.

09:44
44 mins: New Zealand work their way into the 22 and Barrett puts a high kick up for Savea. He has a nasty clash with Quade Cooper, initially it seems he former has come off worse, but it becomes clear that Cooper is suffering more. Meanwhile, Australia clear upfield but New Zealand run it back into the 22. and knock on. Cooper is fine now.

09:41
42 mins: Australia incredibly unlucky at the restart as Foley botches a restart. Poite can't see that it has actually hit Julian Savea. The Wallabies then concede a penalty from the resulting scrum, giving New Zealand a lineout 30 metres out.

09:39
KICK OFF: Game on in this second half. New Zealand in a real test match can they end their 15 year wait for a win on New Zealand soil.

09:32
So missed tackles costing Australia in the first half, who conceded two tries that Cheika will not be pleased to see. Ultimately though, they are still in this game. Watching the replay back it seems that New Zealand got lucky with the second try. Obstruction from the All Blacks helping Beauden Barrett cruise through. Can Australia come back or are New Zealand on the way to a big win? Here we go again.

09:26
HALF TIME: New Zealand 15-9 Australia: Australia survive and clear upfield, and they might just have an opportunity themselves here. Looking to create a chance on halfway. But New Zealand nick it and they are off! Strong defence from the Wallabies and eventually the attack fizzles out. Cracking first period. This one finely balanced

09:19
YELLOW COLEMAN 38' New Zealand 15-9 Australia: Stupidity, sheer stupidity from Coleman as he takes out Dagg with a cynical shoulder charge. It's a moment of madness, and this is not a good time to go off. Can Australia hold on before the break?

09:17:
PENALTY HODGE 35' New Zealand 15-9 Australia: WHADDA KICK! Hodge gives it a huge welly and it goes over for 3 vital points, after last weeks trashing, Australia are right in this game and New Zealand have a challenge on their hands here.

09:16:
34 mins: Penalty for Australia from the scrum and Australia are looking to get within a converted try here. Reece Hodge will have a crack

09:14:
33 mins: Retallick knocks on in midfield. Scrum to Australia almost bang in the middle of the pitch.

09:13:
31 mins: The New Zealand fly half pulls it wide, no goal. Score remains 15-6 to New Zealand.

09:12
30 mins: Lineout panic here or Australia and they struggle to keep the ball. Brode Retallick gets on his feet after a tackle to force Australia into holding on. Penalty. Barrett will have a go

09:11
29 mins: Penalty to Australia as Dane Coles uses his forearm to clear out Scott Fardy. It was not malicious but the penalty was the right decision. Bernard Foley clears, finally some respite for the Aussies

09:08
28 mins: First maul heads for the line, but a stunning interception from Will Genia prevents a third try. Australia clear but it goes out almost exactly where New Zealand had the last lineout.

09:05
26 mins: New Zealand knock on from the restart but nick the ball from the scrum and clear upfield. It is an immaculate kick from Beauden Barrett, who leaves Quade Cooper tackled a yard out. Australia clear. It only lands as far as Dagg on the 22 however and he charges forward. Penalty New Zealand and they go for the corner

09:00
TRY 22' DAGG New Zealand 15-6 Australia. Botched clearance from Quade Cooper, from the lineout Aaron Smith almost knocks it on, but it came of his foot and the All Blacks go wide. Poor tackling on Beauden Barrett, who is allowed to cruise through wide, Israel Dagg finishes well, but Australia should be making him work harder. Tough kick for Barrett goes wide. 15-6

08:59
PENALTY 21' FOLEY New Zealand 10-6 Australia. Foley struggled horribly with his kicking against England, and last week, but he's given this a good nudge from a very wide angle and it is a 4 point ball game.

08:58
20 mins: From that scrum, the Aussies win a penalty. They can be pretty pleased with the way the scrum is going, Bernard Foley clears into the New Zealand half and they will attack from 40 metres out. Tight phases from Australia here, but then it opens up a little, the Australian backs have taken it up to the 22. Penalty Australia for Fekitoa not rolling away. It is a harsh one, but it is the right decision from referee Roman Poite. Foley will go for 3 points from wide

08:55
17 mins: Cleared upfield by Ben Smith, and from the resulting lineout New Zealand win it, they go down the line and it goes into touch but they steal another lineout! Dane Coles darts down the blind side, New Zealand go wide and knock it on. Scrum Australia on the 22.

08:51
PENALTY 14' BARRETT New Zealand 10-3 Australia. Straight from the restart, Australia concede a penalty at the breakdown, Beauden Barrett does the rest. 'Nuff said really

08:50
PENALTY 13' FOLEY New Zealand 7-3 Australia. Advantage Australia straight from the lineout, pressure building. Foley tries a high kick that is gathered by Folau 5 yards out! Another advantage, huge chance here! It fizzles out, but Foley kicks the resulting points and Australia are on the board

08:48
10 mins: Almost straight from the restart New Zealand go off their feet and Australia have an attacking lineout, decent chance here.

08:46
TRY 8' DAGG New Zealand 7-0 Australia. Attacking lineout for the All Blacks, good progress of the resulting maul, and here goes Aaron Smith! He breaks upfield and finds Malaki Fekitoa in midfield. It goes left, then right, and a lovely pass from Anton Lienert-Brown finds its way into the hand of Israel Dagg, who crosses to give the all blacks the lead. Beauden Barrett kicks he resulting conversion and it's 7-0.

08:43
6 mins: Unstable scrum and Australia are gifted the free kick, Quade Cooper clears to a chorus of boos from the All Black crowd. Ben Smith makes a hash of a high kick and now the Wallabies have it in the New Zealand half. Kane Douglas is off his feet at the breakdown though, and after a bit of niggling (not the first we've seen today), New Zealand can clear with a penalty

08:40
4 mins: Superb turnover from Stephen Moore ruined by a kick straight out from Samu Kerevi that lands out on the full. Almost identical lineout on the other side but Australia hold up and will have the feed in the first scrum of the game on their 22.

08:38
2 mins: Australia take it in and clear upfield early on, from the resulting lineout a maul is formed and ALREADY the Wallabies concede a penalty. Scott Fardy in at the side. Attacking lineout for Dane Coles to throw into...
