He attempted to play the ball back to his goalkeeper, Jakupovic, to clear it, but instead it rolled straight into a space in the box which Giroud pounced into to give Arsenal the lead.
Arsenal Produced a commanding performance to progress into the quarter finals of the FA Cup as they ended a 5 game winless run with a convincing defeat of Hull.
After a tight opening 40 minutes, Arsenal were gifted the lead as David Meyler passed straight into the feet of Olivier Giroud and he slotted home.
Arsenal looked stronger in the second half and a clever move helped the Gunners double their lead through Giroud again.
And the visitors sealed the victory with two late goals from Theo Walcott.
It is far from a turning point for Arsenal, but was an important win, not just for keeping hopes alive of a third straight FA Cup but to attempt to give their season momentum.
Though they looked poor in the first half, Hull struggled to create chances themselves too however as neither side were able to impose themselves on the match.
Meyler's mistake changed the game.

The second-half was still poor, but there were more chances and eventually Giroud sealed the victory as Walcott lofted the ball into the box over the head of the two Hull centre backs and straight to Giroud who clinically volleyed home.
Walcott had looked short on confidence but was coming well into the game as Campbell's excellent pass gave him a simple finish for 3-0.
And he capped off a good finish to the game for Arsenal with a low driven shot helped in by Alex Bruce, son of coach Steve.
It was a good victory for the Gunners, but potentially losing Gabriel Paulista, Per Mertesacker and Aaron Ramsey to injuries mean the problems stack up and will hurt their title run in.
